Construction Worker Killed in South Fulton County While Repairing Asphalt

One of the reasons a lot of road crews work in the middle of the night is because there’s less traffic. For example, when you need to repair the roads on major highways, you can’t really do it when there’s a morning or evening rush hour. That’s why these repair crews tend to work in the middle of the night. This is not only so they can get the job done, but so that they can get it done safely.

Sadly, no matter how careful these workers try to be, they’re still at the mercy of other drivers. At about 4:30 am, a motorist lost control of their vehicle and crashed into the work truck on the side of the road. The crew had been working to repair the asphalt along Interstate-285.

After hitting the work truck, the driver proceeded to run over one of the construction workers. He was rushed to the local hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, his injuries were too severe and he died as a result. Nobody else on the construction crew was injured. There was no update on the condition of the driver at the time of the crash.

The authorities believe alcohol may have been the cause for the crash. They have done a blood test on the driver. They have also been charged with reckless driving and homicide by vehicle. Their name has not yet been released.

We also imagine that the family of the victim may have a potential wrongful death claim against the drunk driver. We’ll have to wait for the investigation to be concluded.
